GLAA November Board Meeting Minutes
Great Lakes Alpaca Association Board meeting 7/23/08:

In attendance: Tom, Chris, Wade, and Helen.

The board reviewed logistics for the first GLAA educational conference being held at the Clairemont Inn in West Bend,WI August 16, 2008.

A vote was taken and found unanimously in favor for the development of a new web site for GLAA. This will create more member benefits including automatic membership renewal and automatic on-line payments for dues and educational programs. The new site will also provide a forum for members to list alpacas for sale as a benefit of membership.

Next meeting will held at 8:30pm Wednesday August 13, 2008.

Respectfully submitted,
Helen Thomas-Bronk

GLAA Initiates Education Series - August 16, 2008

The Board of Directors of the Great Lakes Alpaca Association has initiated a program of offering timely seminars aimed at helping alpaca breeders grow their business.

The first of these, a “double feature” pilot program on Marketing and Genetics has been set up for August 16, 2008 .

Deb Hill, Cloud Dancer Alpacas, Flagstaff, Arizona has been contracted to present the one day program. She has been raising alpacas in northern Arizona since 1996. With husband Don Sanfilippo, she runs a successful alpaca operation using experience gained from farm life and decades in small business management. The result is a profitable venture based on a small herd of 12-20 alpacas. Deb is on the board of the Alpaca Registry, and previously chaired the AOBA Education Committee for several years. She was also on the Development Committee for the Alpaca Research Foundation, and has presented at many regional and national alpaca conferences, always to rave reviews.
