Great Lakes Alpaca Association

Welcome!

The Great Lakes Alpaca Association (GLAA) was formed in 1995 to promote the growth of the alpaca industry in the Great Lakes region. Our membership includes both new and established alpaca breeders.

A new web site is being worked on for the GLAA membership.  Unexpected delays are on the boards plate but we will continue to strive for this goal.

Socks for Troops - June, 2009
The Alpaca Fiber Cooperative of North America (AFCNA) has an online retail store, America's Alpaca. It provides a variety of alpaca fiber products available for purchase including the socks and yarn made from fiber from our cooperative. America's Alpaca is currently holding a 1/2 price sale on our Extreme Alpaca Socks when purchased to go to troops. These socks have been well received by our soldiers serving our country in foreign lands.

Whether or not you agree with our current foreign policy, it is important we all support the brave men and women serving in the U.S. Military. As we approach the celebrations of July 4th, let's remember the patriots who are currently protecting our freedom. Let's not forget the sacrifices made by these courageous men and woman and their families and loved ones. If you have a loved one or friend serving our country, please consider adding warm alpaca socks to the next gift package you send. For further information, log on to www.americasalpaca.com; to order, call 1-877-859-0172. You must call to order at this special price and the deadline for this promotion is July 3, 2009.

GLAA Board of Directors
All of your GLAA Directors meet each month by phone conference. If you have issues you would like discussed, please email them to Wade Gease. Please put GLAA in the subject line of your email. President: Wade Gease, Vice-President Tom Olson, Treasurer Dan Emmerich, Secretary Helen Thomas-Bronk, Director at Large Chris Rogers, and Director at Large Peggy Emmerich. We are making progress on the new GLAA website; our hope is that it will be up and running early 2009. This will give members more options for advertising as it will have the capacity for each farm to post pictures as well as make it more useful for the general public to learn more about the industry.  In the meantime, if you have any issues placing your information on the current site, please contact Tom Olson, tom@fevoldenfarm.com   or Wade Gease, ldalpacas@charter.net  for assistance. Please place "GLAA" in the subject line of your email.
If you do have an event you would like published, email Tom Olson with the details and it will be posted on the website calendar. Continue to monitor the calendar here periodically as new items are being added. We encourage you to take advantage of opportunities for learning more about alpacas. Watch for news of our next GLAA hosted education event coming up mid-late 2009.
